Moving & Handling : Monday 15th November 9.30am – 12.30pm – Understanding the principles of safe handling – looking after yourself. Essential knowledge and skills needed by PAs. Using aids and equipment. Helping with transfers using the right equipment, positioning techniques. Communication.
An overview of person-centred practices when working with people with autism and/or learning disabilities : Monday 22nd November 11am – 1pm – An introduction co-written and produced with people with a learning disability and/or autism on providing support in a person-centred way, giving them choice and control over their life.
Infection Control : Wednesday 24th November 9.30am – 12.30pm – Written and delivered by people with lived experience of disability. This session explores attitudes and barriers that many disabled people face. Defining what disability equality and access means.
Introduction to Equality Awareness Session : Monday 29th November 1.30pm – 3.00pm – Written and delivered by people with lived experience of disability. This session explores attitudes and barriers that many disabled people face. Defines what disability equality and access means.
PA Peer Support Information Session : Tuesday 30th November 10am – 11.30am – To provide knowledge, experience, emotional, social or practical help to each other. Roles and responsibilities, duty of care and professional boundaries.
Prospective Personal Assistants : Wednesday 1st December 10am – 12.00pm – Find out what a Personal Assistant is; the advantages of being a PA, the PA Register, applying for vacancies and skills and knowledge required for the role.
Employers Information Session : Thursday 2nd December 10am – 11.30am -Looking at recruitment and retention, conducting reviews and supervision with your PA, keeping records, employment law and checks.
Health & Safety in the home environment for employers and PAs : Wednesday 8th December 9.30am – 12.30pm – Home checks lists. Risk assessments.
Basic First Aid : Wednesday 15th December 9.30am – 12.30pm – Basic life support. First Aid in the home.
Food Hygiene Level 1 – e-learning course (10 spaces available) – Food safety regulations, safe food handling, storage basic nutrition. Log in details provided on registration.
